In 2012, representatives of a coalition in support of the month prepared to go to Albany to request the NYS Senate to pass a resolution asking for the establishment of “Russian American History Month.” The resolution passed without objection and events and activities were organized throughout the state.
In 2013 A delegation of the 50 member “Coalition in Support of Russian American History Month,” again led by its chairman Dr. Olga Zatsepina, traveled to Albany, capitol of New York State, to witness the submission of a Senate resolution of great importance to the Russian American community.
This year, the month is dedicated to the history of Russian America. Among the key events:
* A delegation of the Coalition will visit the Senate and the Assembly of the State of New on the day of adoption of the resolution
*The official opening at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York City.
*A unique test will be introduced measuring knowledge of the history of Russian America at a local venue and on-line.Check back for details.
