April 2020 – Russian American History Month in NY State

April 12

On April 12, 1961, the Soviet cosmonaut became the first human to go into space. It took the Americans another year to put a man into orbit. Fifty six years later, Gagarin’s fame is as bright as ever.

Yuri Gagarin was a Russian Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961. Wikipedia

The World Space Party

Yuri’s Night is the World Space Party. We hope to see you dream, explore, and celebrate at the hundreds of YN events held around the world each April.

“Circling the Earth in my orbital spaceship I marveled at the beauty of our planet. People of the world, let us safeguard and enhance this beauty — not destroy it!”
— Yuri Gagarin, 1st human in space.
